Kempinski and Posadas will work together

Prominent Mexican hospitality company Posadas is forming a strategic alliance with Cancun’s tony Kempinski Hotel Cancun, a development the Mexican firm and officials with Europe-based Kempinski says will serve both parties well.

Posadas, the leading hotel operator in Mexico and known for such hotel brands as Fiesta Americana, notes the Kempinski property will be available through Posadas’ commercial platform on Nov. 1, adding a new option to company destinations. Posadsas already has 29,833 rooms in Mexico and the Dominican Republic. The Kempinski Hotel Cancun will add 363 more guest units.

“It’s a historic moment for the hotel… We are convinced that this will be very good for everyone,” Kempinski Hotel Cancun general manager Coenraad Bergwerf said at an event announcing the development during mid-October’s Cancun Travel Mart.

The Kempinski Hotel Cancun is Kempinski’s only hotel in Mexico. Kempinski officials claim the Cancun property is the most upscale in Cancun.

Posadas’ Enrique Calderon labelled the Kempinski Hotel Cancun a “great hotel with a great brand” and noted Posadas is strong in Latin America, while Kempinski is a formidable presence in Europe and Asia, and so the alliance will enable both companies to expand their global reach.

“We are excited about this alliance with Kempinski Hotel Cancún, an icon of luxury hospitality in Mexico, and part of a brand recognized worldwide for its excellence in hospitality. Having a property of this relevance and exclusivity reaffirms our position and leadership. At Posadas we reinforce the commitment to be the most reliable strategic partner for investors and business partners in the Mexican market. We are undoubtedly the company with the most extensive expertise and industry knowledge and in that sense, this marks the beginning of numerous international alliances,” added José Lorenzo, Commercial Director of Posadas.

Javier Aranda, head of the tourism board for the state of Quintana Roo, also weighed in on the alliance during the announcement, praising Posada for its “great know-how. This venture between Posadas and Kempinski will be a great success for Kempinski and Posadas and Cancun and Quintana Roo.”

The Kempinski Hotel Cancun is located in the hotel zone 25 minutes from the Cancun International Airport and close to the city centre. It has a unique service called Lady in Red and Gent in Red, in which exclusive ambassadors of the brand provide from the arrival of each guest personalized accompaniment service and knowledge of the local culture to design special moments for each visitor. Kempinski Hotel Cancún is one of the four hotels of the brand that have this service worldwide.

Posadas is the leading hotel operator in Mexico owning, leasing, managing and marketing 195 hotels and 29,833 rooms. It operates the Live Aqua, Grand Fiesta Americana, Curamoria Collection, Fiesta Americana, The Explorean, IOH, Fiesta Inn, Gamma and one, as well as the Live Aqua Residence Club and Fiesta Americana Vacation Club.

Founded in 1897, Kempinski Hotels is the oldest luxury hotel group in Europe and operates 80 hotels and residences in 34 countries and currently has more than 26 prestigious projects in development around the world.
