Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea’s intriguing architecture clearly recalls the Middle East of yesteryear while also bordering a famed tourist attraction. The 5-star property in Jordan lies in what Mövenpick labels a “traditional village setting nestled amongst lush gardens,” with its design a reminder of impressive regional structures of long ago.
But the resort is also set on the shore of the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth and also known for extreme salinity that provides those who enter it with a floating sensation. “With your well-being and balance in mind, this 5-star resort is an oasis of tranquillity,” the resort states.
The hillside resort has nine restaurants and bars offering a variety of cuisines, among them Middle Eastern dishes and traditional Italian food. The property has meeting and events venues, and facilities for private events and business meetings.
The resort ‘s spa features the likes of an infinity pool, steam rooms and treatment rooms. Rooms, suites and villas are available for guests.
Among those familiar with the property is Avril Matthews of Visit Jordan Tourism, who says it has several attributes tourists will appreciate.
“The Mövenpick Resort & Spa at the Dead Sea is not to be missed,” she says. “I love the architecture, which is a blend of traditional local style and contemporary design. It’s stylish and authentically Jordanian. Be sure not to miss the spa — it’s great! Plus the staff are super welcoming and pay attention to every little thing. Classic Jordanian hospitality.”
Meanwhile, Amman-based tour guide Michael Safar says the Dead Sea is aptly named, with its high salt levels preventing fish or plants from living in it. “There is no life in the Dead Sea,” he states.
The Mövenpick Dead Sea Resort and Spa is one of several properties Swiss chain Mövenpick has in Jordan, with other sites it’s represented in including the capital of Amman, the archeological site of Petra and the Red Sea resort destination of Aqaba.
