Upcoming family-friendly resort will be next to existing one

Haven Resorts is on the verge of building a greater presence in Mexico’s most prominent resort destination.

Jan LaPointe, Haven’s North American director, reports that the company is looking to add another property in Cancun, where it already has a resort that has built a following in this country.

“Plans are in place to start construction this year on a family resort, situated right next door to Haven Riviera Cancun,” she reports. “This beautiful 600-room property will have waterparks and multiple pools, fantastic dining options and  meticulous design. Building off the success of Haven Riviera Cancun, we’ll be able to provide the ultimate getaway for families, couples and friends, plus service the incentive and meeting market for Canadians.

“Haven Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa is the first resort in the brand, Haven Resorts & Spa.”

The existing Haven Riviera Cancun proudly notes that it recently received AAA Four Diamond designation, recognition quickly welcomed by the all-inclusive, adults-only property. Those staying at it will find the likes of poolside Balinese  beds; a temazcal, a type of steam bath dating back to the Maya era; Mexican wine, international wine and tequila and mezcal tastings. The 250-acre property is 20 minutes from Cancun’s airport. Resort guests receive free green fees at the El Tinto Golf Course, 10 minutes away.

Haven, owned by a Spanish family, now has 29 resorts in Spain’s Andalusia region, and the Canary Islands and Balearic Islands, and has been catering to both the adults-only and families markets, for over 50 years.

The company works with Air Canada Vacations, Transat Holidays and WestJet Vacations in this country.

“Each are connected and have last-room availability, meaning they are able to offer all suites and categories, including guaranteed bedding type – i.e. king/queen/double, etc.,” LaPointe states.

“Being an independent resort allows us to really customize a guest experience,” she continues. “Travel advisors are able to reach out to us, request specific buildings or  to provide a personal welcome letter from them and recognize their clients’ celebrations or milestones – allowing us to provide ‘wow’ moments over and over again. It’s just one of the many things that brings us such a high satisfaction report from both guests and travel advisors. Couple those features with the fact we do not have timeshare or vacation clubs, makes Haven Riviera Cancun the right choice for both travel agents and guests.”

LaPointe says Canada has always been a very important market for Haven, which will “continue to work closely with the Canadian tour operators and travel advisors. We make every effort to increase awareness in Canada via the many webinars we host, through partner campaigns and tradeshows, and by providing opportunities to travel advisors to experience Haven for themselves.”

Meanwhile, LaPointe says travel advisors are a “big part of the reason Haven Riviera Cancun has done so well in the Canadian market. Word of mouth, especially by a trust travel advisor, is key to our success. We have a very high guest satisfaction, large repeat business and I even know of many Canadian advisors who have visited us more than once.”
