Rum in the sun: a look at one of Jamaica’s oldest sugar estates
February 26, 2019

While rum is believed to have originated in Barbados, Jamaica is home to some quality rum distilleries. For clients seeking a day trip off the resort, consider the Hampden Estate Rum Tour, which takes visitors through the all-natural rum-making process and, naturally, culminates with a tasting experience.

Located in Trelawny Parish, Hampden Estate specializes exclusively in the making of Heavy Pot Still rums and creates two products, Hampden Gold at 40% and Rum Fire at 63%. Fun fact: according to tour guide Lasanya, Chanel cologne and some flavours of Häagen-Dazs are made using its rum.
