Riu Palace Pacifico will be the latest Mexican RIU to be redone

RIU Hotels & Resorts’ Riu Palace Pacifico will soon be undergoing renovations, which will make it the latest of the Spanish chain’s Mexican properties to get a new look.

The hotel — which opened its doors in 2008, becoming the third Riu hotel in Riviera Nayarit after the opening of the Riu Jalisco hotel in 2002 and the Riu Vallarta hotel in 2006 — will be closed for refurbishments from August until December, enabling the work to take place, says Martina Peuser, the property’s sales manager.

“RIU aims to continuously improve its facilities in order to offer quality stays to its guests,” she says.”In 2012, the chain began the renovation of all of its properties in Mexico with the refurbishment of the Riu Caribe in Cancun and the Riu Palace Mexico in Playa del Carmen. A year later, in 2013, the Riu Jalisco hotel in Riviera Nayarit was refurbished, and in 2019 the Riu Vallarta in the same destination.

“With the project for the Riu Palace Pacifico hotel, not only will the renovation of the hotels in Riviera Nayarit be completed, but all of the hotels in Mexico.

“The Riu Palace Pacifico is a RIU Palace category hotel that offers RIU’s standards but following a more sophisticated line, thus offering a plus of quality and excellence in its food and beverage offering, design and service.”

The Riu Palace Pacifico hotel will reopen in December as an adults-only hotel and will also offer the Elite Club by RIU service to all those guests who wish to take advantage of its exclusive benefits,  such as late check-out, access to premium drinks, personalized check-in and the rooms with the best views.

The redone hotel will have eight restaurants, keeping its main buffet restaurant La Peninsula, the fusion cuisine Krystal, the Japanese and Mexican ones, and adding  Italian eatery Grill Pepe’s Food and the Taqueria restaurant. Riu Palace Pacifico will also open a new patisseria and ice cream parlour Capuchino and the sports bar will have a new terrace.

In addition, the swimming pool area will be “completely new,” with a total redesign of its swimming pools. After the refurbishment, it will have three swimming pools, two of them 121 / 443 sqm and a 222-sqm pool with a swim-up bar.

Peuser says RIU tries to cover all budgets and types of holidays within a destination so every customer “can find their perfect fit. This is why in Riviera Nayarit we have three hotels to meet their different needs and wishes.

“The Riu Vallarta, with more than 600 rooms, and the Riu Jalisco, with a total of 700 rooms, are two hotels perfect for family holidays. Both have Riu Land services for the little ones and direct access to the beach. The Riu Palace Pacifico hotel is part of the chain’s premium category and will open its doors as an Adults Only hotel after its refurbishment. The hotel is RIU’s most luxurious hotel in Riviera Nayarit and has more than 400 rooms.

“All three RIU hotels offer a wide variety of gastronomic options with buffet and specialized restaurants, from Asian, Italian to local cuisine typical of the destination. All of it as part of RIU’s All Inclusive program, so there are no extra costs. They also have the advantage of being located very close to Puerto Vallarta airport, just 13 kilometres away.”

Peuser says RIU is always working to improve the guest experience by introducing new services such as the Riu Party, celebrated at the Riu Jalisco every Friday and accessible to all RIU guests in Riviera Nayarit. The Riu Get Together Party at Riu Jalisco offers two different types of party, depending on the day, the Neon Party, to “enjoy a world of fluorescent colours, and the White Party, with amazing aerial ballet shows and many more surprises.

“Riviera Nayarit, located on the Pacific Ocean, is one of the most exotic destinations in Mexico,” Peuser continues. “In this wonderful destination guests can enjoy nature through water sports such as windsurfing, bodyboarding or kayaking, they can play golf on its wide list of green courses or go horseback riding on the beach. They can also discover the bottom of the ocean by scuba diving, catamaran sailing or whale watching.”

Peuser praises Riviera Nayarit for “being an established tourist destination with all the services that guests need, is a destination that preserves the flavor of authentic Mexico.”

Meanwhile, Peuser says RIU has steadily grown in Mexico.

“RIU landed in the country in 1997 with the opening of the Riu Yucatan in Playa del Carmen and now has 22 hotels in the country: five in Cancun (Riu Caribe, Riu Cancun, Riu Palace Las Americas, Riu Palace Peninsula and Riu Palace Kukulkan), six in Playa del Carmen (Riu Yucatan, Riu Tequila, Riu Palace Mexico, Riu Playacar, Riu Lupita and Riu Palace Riviera Maya), three in Costa Mujeres (Riu Dunamar, Riu Palace Costa Mujeres and Riu Latino), three in Riviera Nayarit (Riu Jalisco, Riu Vallarta and Riu Palace Pacifico), three in Baja California (Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas, Riu Santa Fe and Riu Palace Baja California), the Riu Emerald Bay in Mazatlan and the Riu Plaza Guadalajara city hotel in Guadalajara.

“Mexico is RIU’s main international destination, as the environment and its people are the perfect mix to offer customers the best holidays. Last year the hotel chain celebrated its 25th anniversary in the country.”
