Both properties cite city's Mexican ambiance
Two affiliated Puerto Vallarta resorts say they can provide particularly Mexican experiences to guests who will be staying in a particularly Mexican destination.
The Westin Puerto Vallarta and Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa each say they will provide vacations that will clearly reflect the country they’re in, as does the city they call home.
“We strongly believe that Puerto Vallarta is the most Mexican beach destination,” Elsa Perez, director of sales and marketing for the Marriott, said during a recent Toronto reception.
Those exploring the city will see colonial architecture, something not found in some of the newer resort destinations that have been developed along coastal Mexico in recent decades.
The city also has a thriving arts scene and is home to many art galleries.
Puerto Vallarta is found in the state of Jalisco, which Perez noted is home to the likes of mariachi music and is the centre of Mexico’s tequila industry, with tequila and mariachi being iconic of the Latin American country.
Among Mexican influences found at the Marriott are a tequila bar that has over 100 tequila brands and a tequila sommelier.
The Westin is working on 16 swim-up rooms, with its other guest units having been renovated, while the 433-room Marriott is seeing phased renovations, with plans calling for upcoming summer work to stop in October, the advent of its high season.
“We don’t want to mess with the whales coming into the destination,” Perez joked.
Winter whale-watching excursions are available in Puerto Vallarta.
Perez said both hotels have “amazing kids’ clubs,” and the Marriott will have a new adults-only pool, and “is right across the street from a golf course,” one of 9 area courses.
Both hotels are in the “exclusive” Marina Vallarta district and both are 10 minutes from the airport.
Neither is all-inclusive but Perez said the Marriott has an “amazing inclusive getaway package” and the Westin will phase into a fully all-inclusive property in 2026
The Westin in turn is dog-friendly, enabling guests to “take your furry friend to paradise.”
