Picture this: JTB provides agents with caricatures in honour of Travel Agent Day
April 26, 2021

The Jamaica Tourist Board believes it has a picture-perfect way to mark Travel Agent Day on May 5. The board is saluting agents by partnering with caricature artist Cesar Vargas.

Over the past month Toronto-based Vargas designed customized illustrations for travel advisors, in a manner that has the caricatures reflecting “each agent’s individual style and personality and will be hand-drawn featuring island-inspired details and backgrounds.”

After receiving an overwhelming amount of interest from agents, the JTB expanded the campaign from an initial 200 caricatures to 320 creations for travel advisors.

“The tourism industry is full of characters and we are in awe of the passion and resilience demonstrated by our Canadian travel partners,” said Angella Bennett, regional director, Canada, Jamaica Tourist Board. “In honour of Travel Agent Day, we are giving back to this amazing community with unique custom-made caricature mementos that we hope will bring smiles to our agents’ faces and show them just how much Jamaica appreciates their dedication and support.”

“The JTB Canada sales team has always been known for their creativity when it comes to seasonal promotions and the unique activities it hosts in order to engage Canadian travel agents,” added a JTB spokeswoman. “While the destination has hosted giveaways and contests as a way to show their appreciation on Travel Agent Day in the past, this year the team wanted to get a little creative and do something a little more personalized for agents.

“The custom-made caricatures are designed to send agents to Jamaica — in cartoon form — and we are hoping agents will share their illustrations on social media on Travel Agent Day as an additional showcase for the island destination.”
