AVALON RETURNS TO EGYPT & THE NILE

After a brief hiatus, Avalon Waterways is returning to Egypt in 2020 and invites travellers to stand at the foot of the pyramids, answer the riddle of the Sphinx and sail down the historic Nile River, aboard the MS Farah – featuring 62 staterooms and suites – on its new “Taste of Egypt” itinerary.

“We are thrilled to return to Egypt and the Nile River with this once-in-a-lifetime vacation,” said Pam Hoffee, managing director of Avalon Waterways.

“From welcoming travellers to Cairo, ‘Mother of the World,’ and inviting them to look up at the ‘Stairway to the Sky,’ to welcoming them onboard the MS Farah to sail through Africa’s ancient history and civilizations along the Nile, this is a very special, awe-inspiring experience for cruisers of all ages.”

On this 10-day adventure, travellers will explore the Pyramids and Sphinx in Giza; visit the Ramses II and Alabaster Sphinx in Memphis as well as Cairo’s oldest church (the Hanging Church) and Tutankhamun’s Tomb in the Egyptian Museum – all of this and more before even stepping foot on the MS Farah in Luxor to embark on their Nile Cruise.

Along the Nile, passengers will visit the Luxor Temple; Avenue of Sphinxes; the massive Karnak Temple Complex, including the Temple of Amun-Ra; the Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens; the Temple of Kom Ombo (an unusual double temple), Temple of Isis and more.

2020 departures are currently on sale until Dec. 16 and priced from $4,148 (excluding airfare), a savings of $650 per couple.

ADVENTURE CANADA LAUNCHES NEW ANTARCTICA EXPEDITIONS

Adventure Canada, which has been running Arctic explorations for more than 30 years, has launched three Antarctica expeditions for winter 2021 through a new partnership with Chimu Adventures.

The voyages, taking place onboard the 198-passenger Ocean Endeavour, will transport guests from Ushuaia, Argentina to the elusive White Con-tinent, turning life-long travel dreams into a “pinch me” reality. Travel-lers will zodiac past icebergs, glaciated mountains and volcanoes, and encounter wildlife, including whales, seals, and – yes – penguins, in their pristine and natural habitat. An expert staff of historians, geologists, ecologists, and more will provide world-class educational lectures and onshore interpretations for a total immersion into Antarctic life.

“After so much demand, we’re beyond thrilled to bring Adventure Canada guests to Antarctica in 2021,” says Cedar Swan, Adventure Canada CEO. “Antarctica is unlike anywhere else on earth: it moves you, it amazes you, it changes you. Everything from the landscape to the wildlife is unlike anything you could imagine.”
