Country has hosted many famous musicians

GMTours clients visiting Morocco may not see Castles Made of Sand but they can certainly see kasbahs made from brick.
The tour operator offers the North African country, which has long had a mystique underscored by the exotic nature of such cities as Marrakesh and Fez, and its being associated with the classic Humphrey Bogart movie Casablanca.
The country has also had a long history of hosting rock musicians, including Jimi Hendrix, who spent considerable time in seaside Essaouira, where he was inspired to write Castles Made of Sand and is remembered today by a city statue of him.
But GM Tour’s Sally Mikhail says there are many other intriguing places awaiting those who vacation in Morocco.

Those monuments include kasbahs, long-standing fortresses that dot the country.
Interior Marrakesh — popularized in part by the Crosby Stills, Nash and Young song Marrakesh Express — is always a Morocco highlight for tourists, with Mikhail declaring that it’s a “vibrant city with a rich history and culture.”
Marrakesh’s medina includes Djemmaa El Fna Square, long a nightly gathering point for musicians, jugglers, snake charmers and other entertainers.
Mikhail adds that tourists should also make a point of visiting the Saadian Tombs while in Marrakesh.
Fez on the other hand is the oldest of what are labelled Morocco’s Imperial Cities and is seen as a spiritual center. Mikhail says visitors should make a point of seeing its Al Quaraouiyine Mosque and university.
Another must-see destination identified by GMTours is Chefchaouen, which Mikhail labels “a picturesque town with blue-and-white painted houses and beautiful little shops” that sell handicrafts and rugs in souks or markets.
Marzouga, in turn, is a small village in southeastern Morocco, about 55 kms from Erfoud. Those visiting it can experience the Sahara and Berber life, enjoying a traditional Berber feast under a tent. Sunrise camel rides are available.
Mikhail adds that Morocco has “great weather, stunning natural landscapes, and beautiful coastlines.”
As well, it offers great cuisine and cuisine, “along with warm hospitality.”
Visitors will also find endless deserts, rugged mountains, and adventurous activities, Mikhail continues.
Mikhail adds that tourists should also consider visiting coastal Agadir, which has built a following among sun-seeking Europeans.
“It deserve to be visited for it’s location and beauty,” she states adding the city — found near the foot of the Atlas Mountains — offers “beautiful beaches with charming scenery.”
