Puerto Vallarta properties proud of their cuisine

David Chairez says his employer offers hotel stays that will reassure Mexican food purists on vacation in Mexico who would cringe at the thought of having to chow down on Tex-Mex dishes.
Chairez is with Puerto Vallarta-based Hoteles Buenaventura, which has three Puerto Vallarta properties, including the Hacienda Buenaventura, which Hoteles Buenaventura says recalls an “authentic Mexican hacienda” and which Chairez assures can serve cuisine that is unquestionably Mexican.
And that, he says, will be welcomed by tourists to Puerto Vallarta, adding those visiting Mexico frequently ask, “Why is it very hard to find Mexican food in a Mexican hotel in Mexico?”
Those vacationing in the Puerto Vallarta area want Mexican food, he said, adding that Hacienda Buenaventura guests can have handmade tortillas for breakfast, lunch and dinner if they choose. “It really does offer a genuine Mexican experience,” he added of the lodging option.
Hoteles Buenaventura, in business for 42 years and offering visitors to the seaside city all-inclusive stays, also has the Buenaventura Grand, which Chairez labelled an “iconic” area hotel that saw a renovation that didn’t just involve “changing the drapes” but saw the whole hotel redone.
Chairez said that the hotel always has a “Mexican corner” serving the likes of guacamole, a Mexican food staple.
The 80-guest unit Villa Premiere — found a short distance from Puerto Vallarta’s famed Malecon — is the company flagship property and its cuisine can accommodate both vegans and vegetarians. Among drink options is an avocado margarita, which Chairez confesses he “almost cringed” when learning of it but did try and found it tasty.
Villa Premiere guests can also opt for yoga classes, which Chairez has taken, despite conceding that he isn’t particularly skilled at it. The fact he successfully did yoga should reassure others who are interested in trying it but might be leery of how good they’ll be at it, he added. “If I can do it, anyone can do it,” he stated.
The Villa Premiere is adding a “cantina” that will be serving authentic tacos, Chairez continued. The luxury hotel has the likes of a gym, Bali beds, welcome massages, and two pools.
