Rooms of The Panoramic hotel overlook a very scenic bay
Martinique’s The Panoramic hotel says it lives up to its name. Claudie Ampigny, the hotel’s director for France-Europe, says guests can be certain that their units will have views of the Caribbean Sea, which is central to Martinique’s tourism trade.
“From each balcony, you have this amazing view of the bay. They [guests] will never have a view of a wall,” Ampigny reported during a Toronto visit with a Martinique tourism delegation visit.
The hillside hotel is close to a beach from which a waterborne shuttle carries people to Fort-de-France, a service that Ampigny noted means guests, “don’t need a car all the time.”
Ampigny, who runs the Panoramic with her brother and sister, notes her hotel has 36 suites, and its facade is decorated in cheery Creole colours, with Creole culture very prominent in Martinique.
The hotel says the suites offer a “harmonious fusion of modern technology and elegance.”
“You can also relax by the pool while enjoying the panoramic view of the Bay of Fort-de-France, one of the most beautiful bays in the world,” Ampigny added.
The hotel is near an 18-hole golf course, tennis, hiking trails, horseback riding, mountain biking, diving, water skiing, windsurfing, pedal boats and museums.
It’s 150 meters from a white-sand beach and 30 minutes from Martinique’s airport.
Ampigny noted that another activity is tasting local rum from an island that has 14 rum distilleries.
She added that her destination has an intriguing history and strong ties with France but is tropical, prompting her to label it “exotic France.”
All Panoramic staff speak English, she added.
The Martinique delegation arrived in Toronto as Air Canada is preparing to offer service from Toronto to Martinique from mid-December to mid-April. It also has year-round Montreal-Martinique service.
