Looking ahead to what’s trending amongst her clients, Diane Manson pinpoints several frontrunners.
“The destinations heavily leaned into this year are Africa, Ireland, Japan, Galapagos Islands, Greenland, French Polynesia, and a dusting of Europe,” said Manson, who is with Mountain City Travel in Kimberley, B.C. “Currently Ireland and expedition cruises are the 2025 front runners.”
For Dineshio Barr, a travel consultant with Maritime Travel in Charlottetown, PEI, its all about legacy travel in Scotland and Ireland.
“The biggest trends I’m noticing right now are Canadians on the constant move to the British Isles — Scotland and Ireland — due to ancestry or heritage reasoning,” he noted.” They tend to learn more about themselves and their descent when going to these destinations.”
Meanwhile, Tom Gehrels, of Adventure Coordinators noted that Europe was very popular last year, with self-guided trips going strong.
“Then Asia, especially Vietnam, seemed to be making a comeback last fall,” he added. “Japan seems to be the hot ticket this year.”
At Mayne Travel Services in North Bay, Ontario, travel consultant Nancy McInnis said the usual seasonal trends are trending again.
“Spring and fall offers amazing prices for overseas travel,” she explained. “Winter months, at least here in Northern Ontario, create a great opportunity to head to the Caribbean.”
