UNEXSO launches new glass bottom boat experience to Shark Junction
Adventurous and thrill-seeking travellers can now get up close and personal with Caribbean Reef Sharks, nurse sharks and large stingrays on their next visit to The Bahamas.
UNEXSO, Grand Bahama’s premier diving and aquatic encounter tour operator, has launched a new glass bottom boat tour to Shark Junction.
The 90-minute tour, departing from and returning to UNEXSO in Port Lucaya, begins with a stop to a barrier reef, alive with corals and other marine life. Next is the “Fish Farm” – a popular reef with spectacular coral heads, sea fans, fish and even sea turtles.
The third and final stop is to the world famous Shark Junction. This iconic diving location is frequented by dozens of Caribbean reef sharks – up to eight feet long, nurse sharks, large stingrays, huge groupers, schooling jacks and spade fish, just to name a few.
Upon arriving at the dive site, guests can watch as the sharks congregate under the glass bottom windows. Often, professional shark feeders will be on board to feed the sharks right before the guest’s eyes.
UNEXSO is known for placing a strong effort on conservation. As a pioneer in the diving world – the first to offer shark diving on Grand Bahama, UNEXSO is also the recipient of the prestigious “Caribbean’s Leading Tour Operator” award, presented by Carnival Cruise Lines — the largest provider of cruise ship guests for Freeport, averaging 15 calls a month (Pre-Covid).
Despite the many challenges that Grand Bahama Island has faced, from deadly hurricanes to the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a resiliency that lives on within the people. The Glass Bottom Boat Trip to Shark Junction will be available Monday, Wednesday, and Saturdays at 2 p.m.
Reservations are required and can be made by visiting www.unexso.com.
