Three ways to step outside your comfort zone near an international airport
After landing in destination on their next holiday, clients can embark on a number of thrilling adventurous activities. Here’s a look at some of the incredible options that await.
Canyoning in Switzerland
With its scenic mountain peaks and epic hiking trails, Switzerland has long been an ideal destination for active travellers who enjoy the great outdoors. But for adventurous sorts looking to take the plunge – literally – and try something that immediately gets the heart pounding, the destination offers some memorable canyoning experiences in areas like Interlaken, Ticino, Valais and beyond. Canyoning, also known as canyoneering, is the act of navigating down a mountain stream in a gorge by a variety of methods from rappelling and sliding down waterfalls to leaping out into the water below.
“Picture yourself splashing through the crystal-clear glacial waters near Sierre in Valais, feeling the rush as you navigate the playful rapids of Ticino’s Malvaglia Valley, or simply enjoying a relaxed, guided tour through the scenic canyons of Interlaken. No matter your experience level, you can trust our professional guides to ensure a safe and unforgettable journey,” says Oliver Weibel of Switzerland Tourism. “Explore these adventures on MySwitzerland.com and find the canyoning tour that fits you best. Otherwise you can always reach out to us, and we can guide you to find the right experience for your clients.”

Go beyond the beach in Saint Lucia
Not just a lush destination with relaxing resorts and incredible snorkelling, Saint Lucia is home to the Three Peaks Challenge – where travellers climb the Caribbean destination’s iconic mountains of the Gros Piton (2, 618.9 ft.), Mount Gimie (3,117 ft.) and Petit Piton (2,438 ft.) either in one day or over the course of a few days.
“For those who are really adventurous and enthusiastic, they try to climb the three tallest peaks in Saint Lucia in one day,” explains Louis Lewis of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority. “You can do each day one, as well… Just to climb all three is a significant feat in itself.”
For those wanting an adventure on water, he recommends kayaking on the bay on the eastern coast of St. Lucia in Praslin Bay.
“You kayak to a sandbank and then to a sea moss farm. You can actually walk because the water is no more than waist deep at high tide and see the sea moss being harvested.”

nighttime is the right time in costa rica
“I like to do the night tours in the Arenal area because those are very different and interesting. Normally, you see animals that are active during the day, but during the night, you’re going to see animals that you don’t normally see during the day – different kinds of reptiles, birds, amphibians as well – you can hear them in nature. You can see the bioluminescence as well,” said Adalberto Rodriguez of the Costa Rica Tourism Board.
Travellers can also kayak or stand-up paddleboard on Lake Arenal with exceptional views of the Arenal Volcano.
“Another option is to visit one of the different islands on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Those are day trips on a catamaran and then you get to spend time on the beach. In some of the places you can have fresh oysters, freshly grilled food.”
