Transat showcases its exclusive Morocco offer to 19 Canadian travel advisors

Q&A with Dima Fahed, Transat’s account manager for the greater Toronto Area

From September 7 to 15, Transat welcomed 19 specially chosen Canadian travel advisors on an exclusive journey through Morocco, flying with Air Transat. This immersive FAM tour offered agents the chance to dive deep into Morocco’s rich culture and history while experiencing its stunning scenery firsthand.

“This trip was a testament the exceptional quality of our product, by collaborating with our hand-picked local partners,”  said Dima Fahed, Transat’s account manager for the greater Toronto Area. “Thanks to their unique insight, we were able to offer participants an exciting opportunity to truly explore Morocco. Travel agents are now armed with knowledge that will appeal to their more adventurous clients looking for something meaningful. As you know, our profession is all about creating those unforgettable moments and encouraging travellers to step out of their comfort zones for a deeper, more enriching experience, and I believe Morocco is a great place to do that.”

Travel Courier caught up with Fahed to find out more about the FAM.

1) Tell us about the FAM trip and where you went? What was the itinerary?

The itinerary featured some of the most famous and riveting destinations in Morocco, as well as immersive cultural experience filled with history, crafts and traditional Moroccan hospitality, thanks to local partner Jumbo Tours:

  • The souks and palm groves of Marrakech
  • The Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, one of the world’s largest
  • The Old Medina of Fes
  • The Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate, where famous movies such as Gladiator, The Mummy, and Lawrence of Arabia were filmed
  • The fortified village of Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site

2) How were the agents selected to participate?

All travel agents are able to register for our upcoming FAM tours and then we select the final group based on a number of factors.

3) What were some of the highlights?

A camel ride tour arranged by our fantastic ground handler Jumbo Tours. The tour was at a palm grove in Marrakesh which offered beautiful scenery allowing us to experience the country’s vast and diverse landscape. This tour was one of the main highlights of the journey in Morocco.

4) What do you hope the agents took away from this experience?

I hope they take away that Transat bookings can be made with complete confidence, especially in destinations such as Morocco, which may not be as well known to the general public as, say, Ireland or Mexico. Our commercial teams are always on hand to answer any questions. And, thanks to our expertise and local knowledge, we have the right product for our customers, whether they want a fully guided tour, a multi-city package or just a return flight.

5) Do you think FAM trips like this will help agents sell Transat or Morocco?

Hopefully both! I think we have been able to promote Transat’s unique expertise and wide range of products, especially outside the Sun all-inclusive segments. This has been proven time and time again, and our Morocco offering is no different. By hand-picking our local partners, quality properties and iconic activities, and being hands-on throughout the process, this FAM has shown that Transat is the best solution for customers looking to experience Morocco for the first time.

Now let’s hear from some of the agents on the trip:

“Morocco was an absolute dream come true with amazing and unforgettable moments. This was truly a famtrip done with class. I’m so grateful to have experienced such a unique adventure and will be recommending the highlights to future clients.” Gisella Alvaro at PG Travel

“We had the most amazing tour guides; everyone was so knowledgeable and always prepared for any of the millions of questions we might have had. Getting to see and learn so much about the people and country of Morocco in our 1-week stay worked incredibly well. Everything was expertly planned.” — Alex Jorgenson, travel consultant at Murdoch Travel

“If you’re looking for an amazing travel experience, Morocco is the place to be! From the action-packed souks of Marrakech and Fes to the breathtaking landscapes of the Sahara, Morocco offers a rich tapestry of culture, history and adventure. Whether you’re exploring the bustling streets or relaxing in a riad, Morocco promises an enchanting journey.” — Kevin Dupuis, travel advisor at TripCentral

“Many thanks to Transat Holidays and Jumbo Tours for an excellent and thorough introduction to Morocco and the different types of products (tour, flight/hotel or riad) on offer. We covered a lot of ground, sights and activities in one week. When future clients ask me about Morocco, I will put Transat at the top of the list. The tours are high quality and great value for money. Other agents will know that the all-inclusive clientele are always asking for new destinations; I’ll be sure to let them know that they should consider Morocco. Now that we know it, we can sell it,” — Brian Kendrick at TravelOnly
