Ahoy amigo! Puerto Vallarta yacht cruises feature friendly staff
IAN STALKER
Those who set sail with Puerto Vallarta-based Vallarta Adventures may get a little yachting 101 pointers. The tour company’s offerings include daytime, multi-hour motorized yacht cruises to a secluded beach, and the company’s Daniel “Danny” Enciso Arias notes passengers are invited to take turns briefly taking the helm under the watchful eye of the skipper after the vessel sails from a marina.
And, he adds, the opportunity to pilot the boat shouldn’t be seen as a foreboding one. “It’s easy,” Enciso Arias says. “The captain is always there. Nobody is there by themselves.”
Upon reaching the beach passengers can go on guided snorkelling trips, seeing tropical fish and possibly sea turtles. Among fish that may be seen are members of the pufferfish family, although not the one found in Japanese waters that is considered a delicacy in Japan but which can be fatal if not prepared properly. (“You need to pray before eating that,” Enciso Arias advises.) Other availability watersports include kayaking. Sports equipment is provided.
Buffet lunches are served to the visitors, who are also welcome to spend time on the beach, soaking up sun at the “hippie-chic-style” setting. The beach also has a bar. Vallarta Adventures also offers sunset cruises.
Enciso Arias, with Vallarta Adventures for 17 years, is happy to take on the welcoming role, frequently referring to guests and staff alike as “family. Wherever we meet, it’s my family.”
Enciso Arias and his coworkers are genial hosts, routinely asking passengers if they can get them drinks while aboard the yacht while also dispensing useful advice, such as cautioning male passengers that vessel facilities means that they don’t need to use a side of the boat when having to go the bathroom in a sometimes “windy” setting.
And above all Enciso Arias says he’s there to ensure guests have fun. “I’m here to see everyone has a good time and have a good time too,” he cheerfully states.
