Cuban dreams of Canadiens Stanley Cup triumph

Go Habs Go Cuba-style

IAN STALKER

Will those in tropical Cuba celebrate if the Habs win the Stanley Cup?

Well, at least one person on an often-steamy island where hockey would seemingly be an improbable game will likely be applauding such an achievement.

Rene Castillo serves up drink at the beachfront Sea Breeze bar at a Memories resort in Jardines Del Rey and while doing so doesn’t hide his allegiance to the Montreal Canadiens, with a Canadiens banner displayed immediately above him.

“I like all sports,” Castillo said in between serving beer and Cuban cocktails to thirsty Canadian tourists.

The bar also sports a Toronto Raptors banner in a land where baseball is king and hockey fans would likely be few and far between.

And will Castillo be among those cheering in the seemingly unlikely event that the Canadiens win this season’s Stanley Cup?

“Of course,” he emphatically states.
