Luxury active travel company Butterfield & Robinson has launched new Expedition trips for 2020. The three new tours allow travellers to experience the culture, history and adventure of Rwanda, Mongolia, and Nepal.

“B&R has been immersing its travellers in the very best the world has to offer for more than 50 years,” says Brad Crockett, Director of Expeditions. “Our travellers have high expectations, and our expert Trip Designers have imbued each of these trips with the creativity, service, sophistication and artistry B&R has built its name on, crafting experiences that allow travellers to connect with the people, perspectives and culture of these compelling countries.”

Here’s more information on the new Expedition trips for 2020:

Nepal Walking – 10 days, nine nights

Designed by expert Trip Designer Karen MacRae, who spent four months living, working, guiding and researching in Nepal, this trip explores the ancient, mystical culture of Nepal, anchored by the mighty Himalayas through the lens of Nepalese myths, legends, songs and iconography. Travellers will trek to monumental holy stupas, see and learn about preserved ancient temples, smell the incenses of butter lamp-lit monasteries and feel immersed in its legendary terrain and surprising wildlife, including rhinos, tigers and gazelles. Finally, they will have the chance to gaze upon Mount Everest from an unexpected bird’s-eye view.

Group scheduled departures February 21 to March 1,2020, March 5 to 14, 2020, Nov. 5 to 14, 2020 and Dec. 24, 2020 to Jan. 2, 2021 from US$9,895 per person. Single Supplement $2,100. Private, bespoke options are always available.

Mongolia Active Expedition – 10 days, nine nights

Designed by expert Trip Designer Chris Litt, experiencing Mongolia with B&R means not just absorbing the country by travelling through it, but embracing its traditional Nomadic way of life right alongside its people, unrestricted by fences, locks, private property or even roads. Travellers will meander through the South Gobi Desert, relax and restore in remote camp lodges, sleep under the stars in purpose-built private gers (yurts) during an intimate experience in the Singing Dunes, cross paths with local fauna, flora and herders, and then dine beneath endless skies against ever-changing backdrops. Modes of transportation include on foot and on camel, in kayaks and in saddles of all kinds.

Group scheduled departures June 26 to July 5, 2020, July 29 to Aug. 7, 2020, from US$10,495 per person. Single Supplement $2,500. Private, bespoke options are always available.

Rwanda Walking – nine days, eight nights

Travellers will revel in Rwanda’s contemporary revival and immerse themselves in the country’s beauty, exploring traditional arts and crafts in the vibrant capital city of Kigali, wandering through Africa’s largest protected high-altitude rainforest, tracking some of the world’s last remaining Silverback gorillas in the Virunga mountain range, ambling through famed tea and coffee plantations and strolling along the ridge of gorgeous lakes dotted with traditional fishing villages. Along the way, they’ll meet a local population and learn stories of resilience, optimism and how they are overcoming their country’s past and building towards a future that is authentically Rwandan.
