Spending a Perfect Day at CocoCay

After bringing guests to the private island for decades, Royal Caribbean International upped the ante by creating the Perfect Day at CocoCay experience in The Bahamas.
“We’ve been taking our guests there for 2.5 decades and we recently invested a quarter of a billion dollars into creating the Perfect Day concept,” explains Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International.
The final phase of the project opened on Jan. 31, 2020, with the debut of Coco Beach Club, a private area with an oceanfront infinity pool, 20 overwater cabanas with hammocks and slides, its own bar and restaurant and much more.
Travel Courier recently got to tour the island during a special sailing for the naming ceremony of Odyssey of the Seas. Here’s a look at what makes it unique.
Perfect Day at CocoCay is great for families and kids at heart. It has a waterpark with multiple slides including a 135 foot tall water slide — the tallest in North America, zip lining and a splash park for younger kids.
For those who are looking for a memorable experience consider booking Up, Up and Away, a helium balloon that offers a bird’s eye view from 450 feet above the island. There are also multiple restaurants and pools to choose from like a wave pool, an adventure pool and the oasis lagoon with the kid-friendly sloping entry and a swim up bar for adults.
With the name Chill Island, those who are looking to relax will find cabanas, hammocks and beach loungers on this quieter corner of the island. This is also where destination weddings are held. For an upgraded experience, seaside day beds are also available.
After some rest, visitors who are able to leave the comforts of their cabanas are in for a treat because a really awesome snorkelling spot is roughly 100 metres off the shore: the underwater wreck of an airplane!
For the most luxurious experience, the overwater cabanas at Coco Beach Club are remarkable. Suitable for up to eight guests, these suites come with a dedicated attendant and wet bar, and truly bring a touch of paradise from Bora Bora to The Bahamas.
