UNICO breaks ground on new all inclusive development in Jamaica
Following the successful debut of UNICO 20º87º in the Riviera Maya in 2017, UNICO has broken ground on its second all inclusive property this time in Jamaica. UNICO 18º77º Hotel Montego Bay will debut with 451 guest rooms and employee housing complexes.
RCD Hotels, which leads sales and marketing efforts for luxury properties in Mexico, the Caribbean and the US, including Hard Rock Hotels, projects the completed project will incentivize the arrival of approximately 300,000 new travellers per year to Jamaica.
“We are excited to introduce a brand like UNICO in Jamaica and look forward to showcasing the island’s rich culture through the UNICO experience,” RCD Hotels said in commenting on the new hotel. “Not skimping on a single detail, this property will highlight local culture, art, cuisine and mixology through curated experiences both on and off the property.”
During a recent ground breaking ceremony which had Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness as its keynote speaker, Jamaica’s minister of tourism Edmund Bartlett noted that “UNICO has become a favourite in the luxury space.”
Spacious guest rooms will feature direct ocean-views, with semi-private swim up pools on all ground floor rooms and outdoor hydro spa tubs on all remaining rooms.
Double rooms will feature two king bed configurations, a first in the destination. Accommodations are topped off with five star service, an in-room mini bar stocked for preference, Nespresso coffee machine, free hi-speed Wi-Fi, 24-hour room service and more.
The minister said it’s encouraging that art, gastronomy and mixology are main pillars of the UNICO brand, and this augurs well for the brand’s relationship with Jamaica which has a strong reputation for being an international cultural powerhouse.
UNICO 18°77° Hotel Montego Bay will be joined by other brands, including a Hard Rock Hotel and Casino for which ground will also be broken soon. An official opening date for the property has not yet been announced.
