A modern take on the classic Drake Hotel
December 15, 2021

Seventeen years after The Drake Hotel reopened as a stylish boutique hotel on Queen Street West, the iconic building has expanded with the launch of the Modern Wing. The five storey new build adjoins the original hotel with 32 additional guest rooms, including the Rooftop Terrace Suite, which boasts views of downtown Toronto, and features two bedrooms, two full washrooms, a kitchenette with bar, a living room and the large outdoor terrace.

“It has always been our hope to create a neighbourhood hub rooted in our local community and to bridge art of the moment with intentional hospitality,” says Shaileen Shah, General Manager, The Drake Hotel. “At its core, we want to ignite curiosity within both the modern traveller and our friends — and our new spaces are designed for exactly that.”

Public spaces as well as the guest rooms feature conversation starter art pieces by local and international artists. The lobby was designed as a usable lounge and work space for guests and locals alike, with the goal of creating a space where curiosity and comfort converge. Compared to the Classic Wing, the Modern Wing houses more spacious and elegant rooms complete with steamers and personalized tablets.
