A new adults-only area is now open at Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private island in the Bahamas.
Hideaway Beach features a private beach with picturesque amenities like a beachside swing set, hammocks and loungers, as well as a sprawling infinity edge pool with a swim up bar. The exclusive space, located on the northwest beach of the island, is available for guests 18+ for an entrance fee.
Coming out of the pandemic, Jay Schneider, chief product innovation officer for Royal Caribbean International, said their research indicated that cruisers were seeking a space on the island that was dedicated for adults.
“The research came back and said give adults their space to party. There’s differentiated food you can’t find anywhere else on the island — coconut shrimp, an amazing fish sandwich, pizza, empanadas, ceviche, things you don’t normally get,” he noted. “Great views, an amazing lagoon, what I think is probably the best main big pool in the Caribbean with its massively long infinity edge, if you swim in it you get this unbelievable view of the ocean with an amazing DJ. We actually designed the sound system of that space from the ground up so the sound in that space is impressive.”
For an upgraded experience, cabanas are also available to book. Luxury clients may want to consider the “opulent” Hideout Cabanas, featuring 200 sq. ft. of space for up to eight guests. The Hideout area is known for being laid-back and chill, and boasts its own infinity pool, cabana attendants, comfortable seating and more. Advance bookings are recommended.
For those who want to be closer to the action, Hideaway Cabanas are also available near the lively main infinity pool, where a DJ spins live music and the space has more of a party vibe.
“We’re constantly evolving,” said Vicki Freed, Royal Caribbean International’s senior vice president of sales, trade support and service. “It has like a Vegas beach club feel to it because you have to be 18 or older, it has a DJ, a pool, a beach, beautiful cabanas.”
With Celebrity Cruises calling on the island for the first time this year, Hideaway Beach also showcases that the island caters to more than just families.
“We’ve designed Perfect Day at CocoCay to be a perfect day for mom, dad and the kids. There’s thrill, there’s chill and there’s plenty of spaces for adults with the new Hideaway Beach, which is adults only,” added Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International.
Travel Courier recently visited the new space to showcase what it has to offer.
