Surfers are among those hosted by Rancho Santana

Nicaragua’s sprawling Rancho Santana resort happily hosts those seeking either waves or well-being.

Rancho Santana serves as a resort and residential community on Nicaragua’s pristine Emerald Coast, which fronts the Pacific Ocean, and covers 2,700 acres of rolling hills and features five beaches, four dining venues, and such activities as adventure sports and wellness offerings.

“Situated along the Pacific Ocean and enveloped by an untouched dry forest landscape, Rancho Santana provides well-appointed accommodations and amenities while emphasizing sustainability and genuine Nicaraguan hospitality, drawing US and Canadian travelers annually,” says Rancho Santana’s Vera Bonilla, in charge of sales. “Nestled in the heart of the forest, The Spa in El Bosque offers body treatments that heal and rejuvenate from head to toe, using natural ingredients like cacao and cedar that locals have used for centuries. Other holistic services include acupuncture, shiatsu, and massage with Reiki.

But Bonilla also says surfer dudes will appreciate her resort, regardless of their skill level.

“With 360 days of desirable conditions, The Ranch is conveniently located within driving distance to world-class surfing,” she reports. “As a mecca for surfers, we welcome all levels. Beginners enjoy taking group surf lessons offered in Playa Los Perros, while more advanced riders can opt for their own Surf Butler.

“I go for beach walks at sunset many times a week to fully appreciate the beauty of our five beaches. Last month marked the beginning of surf season, which will continue through August. It’s a magical time when surfers flock to the Emerald Coast to enjoy the excitement of conquering world-class swells. I am not a surfer, but watching surfers paddling out while having a morning cup of tea is always fun.

Rancho Santana has a surf package for those who book a minimum five-night stay that is applicable to Ocean-View Homes with capacity for groups of 6-12 people and includes two surf sessions per day with expert surf guides; two surf photography and video sessions during the stay; daily breakfast includes three in-home breakfasts and two at El Café; two dinners at on-site restaurants; three in-home dining experiences; enabling guests to “choose your perfect board from our surf quiver”; a welcome pack with surf goodies; transportation to and from surf breaks; and one group airport transfer .

But Bonilla says surfers aren’t the only water enthusiasts who will appreciate Rancho Santana.

“With five on-site beaches, sea lovers can easily enjoy coastline walks to any of the beaches, which feel almost private. Swimmers and families prefer the calmness of Playa Santana and Playa Los Perros,” she continues.

Bonilla says Rancho Santana has another package for those seeking a particularly healthy stay.

“Experience the ultimate wellness and adventure destination in Central America,” she adds. “We have created an all-inclusive offer to elevate your stay with daily farm-to-table meals, unlimited yoga classes, indulgent spa treatments, and a different signature experience every day.

The package features four nights or more in any accommodation; daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner per person (beverages not included); one 50-minute wellness massage per person, per stay; a daily Signature Experience per person  (mountain biking, family photoshoot, group surf lesson, or SUP); daily yoga (one class per day); and one Off-Site Experience per person, per stay.

Meanwhile, Rancho Santana reports it’s helping enable area children participate in sports.

“FunLimón is the heart of the community, and locals come together to practice sports,” the resort says of its sporting facility. “There are about eight teams, including Rancho Santana Soccer Club and the Female Soccer Team. Talking about our RS FC, We are pleased to share the passion, dedication, and teamwork that led the team to win the championship and reach new heights in the Premier League, representing the Rivas municipality.

“Their hopes and dreams took them to the tournament, and with improvements and a scoreboard to FunLimón’s soccer field, it can serve as a better training facility for those who aspire to join the team one day.”
