Melia Hotels International’s Paradisus brand says its guests can return home with far more insights into their destination than they had before they began their vacations.
Paradisus, one of 10 Melia brands, is committed to enabling those curious about their holiday surroundings to learn about the regions they’re in, Sarah Ranghi of Melia’s marketing and brands division for the Americas, said during a recent Toronto gathering.
Guests may find reminders of their destinations in their resorts’ decor, entertainment or even in minibars, with mescal being offered to Mexico visitors, while those staying at a Paradisus in Punta Cana will find Dominican rum and wine is offered at Paradisus properties in Spain’s Canary Islands. Paradisus resorts are found in both the Mexican Caribbean and Los Cabos, along with Punta Cana and the Canary Islands. The brand is also in Cuban resort areas, including hugely popular Varadero.
“We really want to ensure that people understand the place… It’s all about destination-inclusive luxury resorts” Ranghi said of the Paradisus brand.
Ranghi praised “amazing” Los Cabos as a destination deserving of more Canadian visitors, citing many available activities, including golf, and adding it provides a different vacation experience than the Mexican Caribbean.
Spain-based Melia now has around 390 hotels when both existing resorts and others in the pipeline are counted.
Melia’s most upscale brand is Gran Melia, with Ranghi declaring that “it’s all about feeling pampered.”
Another Melia option is ME, which Ranghi said offers a “contemporary European lifestyle.”
Meanwhile, Mariel Herrera of the Dominican Republic Tourism Board’s Toronto office said Melia’s weighty presence in Punta Cana serves that oceanside community well.
“We are very happy Melia is in Punta Cana,” Herrera said.
Elizabeth Boileau, who frequently assists Melia with publicity and was on hand for the Toronto event, recalled her own recent stay in a Melia property in Punta Cana, saying guests will find it very relaxing.
“The biggest problem will be beach or pool,” she declared.
