The resort report: what's new in the hotel world

A look at the latest hotel and resort news from fresh renovations to brand new properties and noteworthy packages. 

Zemi Miches All-Inclusive Resort

A new resort is coming to the Dominican Republic. Zemi Miches All‑Inclusive Resort will be part of the Curio Collection by Hilton and is expected to open in 2024. The new-build property will feature 502-rooms in the coastal town of Miches, north of Punta Cana, approximately 60 miles from Punta Cana International Airport. The beachfront property sits on a half-mile stretch of Esmeralda Beach with room categories spread across six four-story buildings and 18 free standing beach bungalows. This includes 123 ground level swim-up guest rooms featuring individual plunge pools that connect via a winding pool allowing guests to swim to other areas of the resort.

JW Marriott Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa

The newly built JW Marriott Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa is now open. Located along a secluded stretch of beach, the luxurious new property features 162 guestrooms, 36 spacious residences and an 11th floor rooftop pool deck that offers striking views of the Gulf and Sand Key. Additional amenities include a full-service Spa by JW, a 24-hour fitness centre, and a JW Kids Club. All guestrooms feature complimentary use of two beach chairs and access to daily fitness classes offered in the fitness centre or outside in nature.    

InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile

The 477-room InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile is undergoing a big renovation to its Grand Tower set to be completed next month. The new look will reflect the hotel’s Moorish-influenced roots with modern luxury. New culinary additions will also debut later in the fall, including a new restaurant concept featuring Latin fusion cuisine concept with an open air space and outdoor patio.

Field Station Moab

Field Station, a new modern lodging brand from AutoCamp Hospitality Group, has opened up shop in Moab, Utah. Geared at the active outdoor community seeking affordable accommodations, Field Station hotel features an onsite pool, cafe, gear shop, rentals, and a series of workshops. Field Station Moab is located near both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks and features 139 rooms ranging from premium king to double queen with bunk rooms, as well as accessible options and seven Van Life Posts.
