Xcaret has Mexican touches everywhere

Mexican-Caribbean resort company Grupo Xcaret is preparing for a greater waterborne presence.

The company, known for its theme parks whose offerings include many adventurous activities — such as zip-lining and exploring underground caves — now has a ferry that regularly carries people between Cancun and Isla Mujeres.

But Rodrigo Motavelazco Loera, Xcaret’s director of sales, parks and tours, noted that the company will soon have more boats plying Caribbean waters, with catamaran excursions beginning  in 2023 that will provide clients with snorkeling opportunities and drinks.

The many unusual, adventurous activities Xcaret offers prompts it to ask potential clients, “When was the last time you did something for the first time.”

Xcaret now has seven parks, three luxury hotels and tours to Maya sites, among them Chichen Itza, with Motavelazco Loera telling a recent Toronto audience that the company has “something for every single taste.”

Among Xcaret lodging options is the Hotel Xcaret Arte, with Dinorah Tobon Hampshire, Xcaret’s director of sales for the USA and Canada, stating the Mexican influence will be found throughout a property owned by a Mexican company.

“Every single detail in every single suite will have Mexican decorations, ” she said.

“Here, you know you’re in Mexico,” she said, citing the likes of Mexican dancing, weaving, painting and pottery workshops.

Resort guests can take a tequila shotglass home “that you actually made yourself,” she added.

Meanwhile, Motavelazco Loera said Grupo Xcaret is “very respectful to the environment.”
