A look at new and soon-to-open resorts in the Mexican Caribbean

With Cancun being one of the top ten most popular destinations in the world according to travel research firm ForwardKeys, and Tulum in the top ten trending destinations from TripAdvisor, the Mexican Caribbean continues to be an in-demand destination for 2022.

Here’s a look at new and coming hotels ranging from over-the-top luxury to family-friendly, all-inclusive properties across both emerging and established destinations.

Hilton Cancun

Hilton Cancun is a new beachfront 715-room and suite all-inclusive resort in the Riviera Maya. Hidden behind a mangrove nature preserve on a secluded stretch of the beach, the resort offers a vast array of dining experiences, an expansive oceanfront pool complex with a Splash Pool, tailored wellness options and endless entertainment. The 12 diverse dining experiences at Hilton Cancun, an All-Inclusive Resort, include the Mexican restaurant Maxal and La Luce Restaurant, a trattoria positioned around a central wood-fired pizza oven, offering Mediterranean classics.

Etéreo, Auberge Resorts Collection

Now open in the growing Kanai development in Riviera Maya, Etéreo is a secluded, exclusive retreat with 75 oceanfront guest houses. Part of the ultra-luxurious Auberge Resorts Collection, the resort has a remarkable wellness program offering sound bowl ceremonies, astrophotography sessions with Georgia Hunter, an astrologer and professional photographer, SANA tarot readings and moonlit massages. The resort’s white-sand beach is home to the region’s largest reef just 250 feet offshore.

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen & Wyndham Alltra Cancun

As part of a new partnership with Playa Hotels & Resorts, the 458-room Wyndham Alltra Cancun All-Inclusive Resort and the 287-room Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen opened in December. The family-friendly Cancun resort includes a splash park and water slides, mini-golf, 10 restaurants, bars and lounges, and included activities ranging from yoga classes to tequila tastings. Meanwhile the all-inclusive, adults-only Playa del Carmen resort is located steps from the vibrant 5th Avenue. The property features contemporary amenities like unlimited gourmet dining and creative cocktails, daily activities like beachfront yoga and aqua aerobics, and nightly entertainment.

Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya Resort

Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya debuted this month, marking the brand’s debut in the Mexican Caribbean. Located eight miles north of Tulum in a secluded bay surrounded by a tropical forest and pristine Caribbean waters, the 349-room resort offers a retreat for guests with curated signature restaurants, a destination spa, oceanfront pools and access to Tulum’s celebrated sights and attractions. The Conrad features a Mayan-inspired luxury spa, five pools and 11 restaurants, including Ukai, a sushi bar, and Autor, the resort’s most sophisticated dining experience where guests can partake in a personalized culinary journey curated by Chef Jersaí Miranda.

Dreams Cozumel Cape Resort & Spa

Part of AMR Collection, Dreams Cozumel Cape Resort & Spa will open in April on a stretch of Cozumel beach. With 154 Preferred Club suites, the hotel features four restaurants and four bars, plus adult guests can enjoy access to Secrets Aura Cozumel and all guests have access to Sunscape Sabor Cozumel.
