From new accommodations such as the Hotel de la Marine and the first Aloft hotel in France to The Bordeaux Wine Festival in June, Atout France has listed 21 reasons to talk about France in 2021.
Upcoming events, developments and new openings were on display during Destination France 2021, Atout France’s annual trade show which was held virtually this year from Feb. 22 to 25.
Looking ahead to the safe return of international travel, the four-day event also highlighted the many wonders of France and its overseas destinations like Martinique, making it clear that there are far more than 22 reasons to visit in 2022.
“France and its overseas destinations have so much to offer — it always makes you dream,” says Marie-Andrée Boucher, Press Manager for Canada.
Although it’s been a challenging year, Mélanie Paul-Hus, director of Atout France in Canada, says the pandemic has not slowed the efforts of the tourism development agency of France in Canada.
For example, Atout France is in the process of developing a France specialist program for the travel trade to become knowledgeable destination experts. The program is set to launch later this year.
“We think this is going to be a great tool to help train more of you on specific destinations and themes,” she says.
The agency has also been busy working towards developing a more responsible tourism in the future.
“Right now we’re in the process of creating a more sustainable tourism in France,” she says. “It’s been a tough call, not sustainability in itself but finding what is actually really sustainable in tourism.”
