Boutique travel agency Stewart Travel Group announces new ownership
By Ann Ruppenstein /  February 6, 2025

Boutique travel agency Stewart Travel Group is embarking on a new chapter amidst new ownership. Founders Paula and Travis Stewart are partnering with Glen Kennedy and Jeni Mutch-Kennedy to ensure the continued success and growth of the company.

Stewart Travel Group is made up of 17 home-based members in PEI, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec and Germany.

New owners Glen Kennedy, a chartered professional accountant and Jeni Mutch-Kennedy, a seasoned entrepreneur and former owner of Taylor’s Garage, say they will continue taking the people-centered approach the agency has become known for.

Meanwhile, founders Travis and Paula Stewart will remain actively involved with Travis continuing in the position of director of travel. Both Stewarts will also continue to bring their personal touch to select hosted tours. Frances Gertsch, trusted senior travel advisor and manager, business development and talent, will also remain key to the company’s leadership team.

“Stewart Travel Group has always been about creating meaningful travel experiences and building lasting relationships with our clients,” said Paula and Travis. “With Glen and Jeni joining our team, we are confident that the company’s future is brighter than ever. Together, we’ll blend experience and innovation to deliver exceptional service.”

New owner Glen Kennedy shared his enthusiasm for the journey ahead: “We’re honoured to carry forward the incredible legacy that Travis and Paula have built. Our vision is to uphold the values that make Stewart Travel Group unique while exploring new opportunities to delight our clients.”

Jeni Mutch-Kenndy added, “Travel is such a personal and transformative experience. We’re excited to be part of a team that’s dedicated to creating unforgettable moments for people around the globe.”

Travel Courier caught up with the team at Stewart Travel Group to find out more about what’s trending for Canadian travellers.

Have you noticed an increase in demand for in-person meetings?

As home-based agents, we meet clients where it is most convenient for them – whether online, by phone, at a local coffee shop, or at their home. Our personalized service means we come to [our clients].

How are bookings going?

Bookings are as strong as ever and we are excited to see what the next year holds. We have a lot of interest in our hosted group tours which, in 2025, will take our travellers to Europe, Northern Africa, and Southeast Asia. In 2026, we’ll add Colombia and Japan to our list, and later that year we’re planning a trip to Australia and New Zealand.

Are you noticing any interesting trends based on what people are booking?

Our hosted group tours are very popular. Japan and Portugal are trending destinations and our hosted tours to both locations are very popular with our guests. We’re seeing more interest in more exotic destinations like Morocco, Colombia, and southeast Asia than we have before. We’re also seeing lots of first-time travellers to Europe and a continued interest in river cruising.
