Hotel name reflects its surrounding Toronto grounds
The location of the Hotel X is said to mark the ideal spot for one of the more recent additions in Toronto’s lodging industry. Hotel X Toronto opened in 2018, with its owners shunning the city’s downtown core in favour of a locale synonymous with a Toronto institution. Hotel director of marketing Matt Black says the hotel being found in Exhibition Place — home to the annual Canadian National Exhibition fair — is a major plus.
“There had been a need for a hotel on the storied grounds here at Exhibition Place for more than half a century,” he states. “When the opportunity finally came to develop this unique parcel of land, Library Hotel Collection simply could not it pass up. No where else in the city could you build such an ambitious property with its unparalleled amenities and spectacular views of the city and the lake. Couple the views with the close proximity to Enercare Center (business center) and only a few minutes to downtown Toronto, and you have a location that is second-to-none.”
The Canadian National Exhibition is commonly referred to as the Ex by city residents and Black says the X in Hotel X was initially a placeholder before the hotel owners settled on a name. “We realized we were overthinking it and decided Hotel X is the perfect name, paying homage to the Exhibition grounds, which have a rich history that we are proud to share,” he continues. Growing up with the (popular Toronto) slogan ‘Let’s Go To The Ex’ solidified it for us all.”
Black says the location of the hotel — with the Hotel X being the only lodging found on CNE grounds — is a plus.
“Although we are located just outside the downtown core, our guests often find this a pro rather than a con,” he adds. “We’re just off Lakeshore Boulevard, which makes us the perfect hotel just outside the downtown core with quick access to the airport, making it convenient for our air travellers.”
Black says going to Hotel X is an experience in itself. “Our guests do not feel as though they are missing anything by being outside of the core because we provide everything they need for a memorable stay. With the amenities we have, like 10XTO (fitness center), Valerie (restaurant), ROSES Social (restaurant), and the Guerlain Spa, there is little reason for guests to leave. For those who would like to explore downtown, our complimentary house car service within a 5 km radius ensures a seamless experience,” he notes.
The hotel promotes itself a luxury urban resort that epitomizes “upscale sophistication and comfort,” Black says. “We pride ourselves on providing an unparalleled experience to our guests, which is evident in our meticulously designed rooms and world-class amenities. One of our most remarkable features is our heated rooftop pool, open year-round and offering stunning panoramic views of the city skyline and Lake Ontario — a truly memorable experience, especially during the winter months.”
The hotel is home to a state-of-the-art 10XTO fitness and wellness facility, which includes tennis and squash courts, as well as cutting-edge equipment for all fitness levels.
“Our on-site cinema provides guests with the unique opportunity to enjoy the latest films in an intimate and luxurious setting,” he adds. “Furthermore, our award-winning Guerlain Spa brings one of the most prestigious luxury spa brands in the world to our property, offering guests unparalleled relaxation and rejuvenation. These exceptional amenities, coupled with our personalized service, distinguish Hotel X Toronto as a premier destination in the city.”
Black says the hotel is eager to host all types of travellers, especially families, adding it has amenities for families, including the kids’ play centre, the theatre, and the screening room.
“Our Family Fun Package allows families to stay in one of our spacious suites, provides complimentary time in the play centre, and a keepsake item for children to take home. As part of our our family fun package, we also offer complimentary access to the stylish CYBEX Jeremy Scott Wings strollers, ensuring comfort and convenience as they explore Toronto with their little ones. And we can’t forget about our guests travelling with their furry family members, our Pawsome Program offers VIP treatments with amenities like plush beds, bowls, and special treats for pets.”
Black says Toronto is a great destination for visitors, with the city offering lively neighbourhoods like Kensington Market, Distillery District, and Queen Street West, “each offering a unique charm, shopping, and entertainment options. There are also many reputable sports teams for travellers to go to and experience a game, including the Toronto Raptors, Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Argos, Toronto Blue Jays, and TFC. The energy of Toronto fans is unmatched, and everyone should get the chance to experience it firsthand. Toronto’s diversity and multiculturalism shines through in the restaurant and bar scene. Every culture is represented, creating a multitude of experiences for all travellers visiting Toronto.
“Along with all the attractions, Toronto’s welcoming and multicultural spirit makes it a truly special place. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or the tenth, there’s always something new to explore.”
Black also said Christmas at Hotel X is shaping up to be a festive and exciting season, with plenty of events for families. “One of the highlights is the chance for families to enjoy Breakfast with Santa,” Black reports. ” For a magical start to the holiday season, guests can join Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus on Dec. 14, 15, 21 and 22. It is a family-friendly event that offers a delicious breakfast and memorable photo opportunities. It is the perfect way for families to celebrate the season in a cozy and laid-back atmosphere.
Meanwhile, Black notes Hotel X Toronto is a LEED Silver-certified building, with sustainability initiatives that include green roofs, rainwater harvesting, and urban beehives.
“Staying with us is about more than just the view — it’s about creating an experience you’ll remember long after you leave,” he adds.
