Club Med Canada's Tyler Mattioli shares the details about a memorable ski trip with 15 advisors
Fresh off of hosting his fourth and final FAM trip of the year, Tyler Mattioli, BDM Ontario and the Maritimes for Club Med Canada, caught up with Travel Courier to share some of the highlights of a memorable adventure to Club Med Tignes in the French Alps.
Tell us about the FAM trip and where and when you went. What was on the agenda?
The Fam trip was to Club Med Tignes, in the French Alps, the highest altitude ski domain of all Club Med ski resorts. We had 15 agents attend the trip from all over English Canada. While on the FAM, the agents were here to experience opening week of the ski season in the villages of Tignes and Val d’Isere. They were able to experience the true meaning of “All Inclusive” ski packages. This included all the meals, all drinks and snacks, entertainment and shows, lift tickets for the week, lessons or guided ski outings from professional ski and snowboard instructors from ESF, The national ski school of France. We also had a day trip to Club Med Val d’Isere, the only fully ‘Exclusive Collection’ village in the alps, which is about 20 minutes away by bus or 40 minutes by ski. We were greeted by the Chief of Village Barq, who hosted us for a BBQ lunch on the patio and showed us around the property.
How were the agents selected to participate?
We sent out a mass invite for this FAM and agents were to fill out an application outlining why they would be a good fit for this trip. Myself and the other BDMs for English Canada, go through the applications and select the group.
How many Canadian FAMs do you do per year, on average?
We generally host eight FAMs per year for English Canada and eight for Quebec and they could be located at any of our properties around the world.
How can agents join an upcoming FAM trip?
Agents can join in the future by reaching out and making sure you are on a mailing list or social media and showing real interest and passion for the product.
What were some of the highlights?
- seeing over 300 cm of fresh snow fall on the mountains over the week.
- enjoying the all-inclusive food and drinks every day at the hotel. Food was a top highlight for everyone on the trip.
- Getting to see how different the experience is from European mountains vs north American and all the fun the comes with the apres ski!
- Skiing the glacier at over 11,000 ft.
- Enjoying the nightly entertainment with the group every night.
What do you hope the agents took away from this experience?
We hope agents got a true example of what it is to be a guest in a Club Med Village in Europe. To experience the food, the culture and all the energy the brand has to offer. When people think all inclusive, they generally think of a sunny beach in the Caribbean and we hope this trip shows the agents that all-inclusive can mean so much more then that!
How do you think FAM trips like this will help agents sell Club Med or this property?
For the majority of the agents on the fam, this was their first club med experience, so to have them walk into a village we opened in 2023 that is brand new and state of the art, we hope this leaves a lasting impression that this isn’t the Club Med they thought they knew, this is the future of club med!
Do you have anything to add?
A big thank you to everyone on the trip that made my job so easy for the last FAM of the year. The agents were so engaged and enthusiastic the entire time. We had an amazing trip, and it was the perfect way to wrap up an amazing year for Club Med.
