Clients can go on ziplines or swim underground with Extreme Adventuring Cancun
Iris Teubl is living proof that those visiting Mexico’s Caribbean-fronting state of Quintana Roo will appreciate it. The Austria native is nearing three decades in Quintana Roo, where she now helps swashbuckling sorts to enjoy their vacations.
“I wanted to escape the Austrian winter for a few months and 29 years later I am still here,” says Teubl, who’s the owner of Extreme Adventuring Cancun, which among other things has a circuit of six zip lines and three interactive bridges, with the longest zip line about 140 metres and the shortest around 40.
Teubl said the zip-lines are suited for those who are fearless and perhaps somewhat fearful as well, having the “perfect height and length for beginners and advanced adventure seekers. 99% of our customers with a fear of heights have dared to ride them, as well as children as young as four years old. They are fun for the whole family.”
Extreme Adventuring Cancun also showcases cenotes, the underground water bodies found throughout the Yucatan, with Teubl reporting they are unique to the Yucatan, which has over 6,000 of them, all differing.
“In our Cenotes Adventure we take them to visit three different cenotes, while on our ATV-Zipline package we visit one cenote. All of the cenotes are explored and safe to swim in,” she reports.
Teubl says her company lives up to its name while suggesting an option for particularly adventurous sorts.
“I would say a combination of all [adventures would be ideal],” she continues. “That would be a day where you go snorkelling at the Mesoamerican Reef just off the beach in Puerto Morelos, from the beach into the jungle where you continue with horseback riding, ATV-ing, zip-lining and swim at a cenote.”
Meanwhile, Teubl says there are several reasons why people should seek out some adventure in a part of the world famed for its gorgeous beaches.
“Adventurous activities provide a unique perspective on our destination and activities like swimming in cenotes, zip-lining through the jungle, or snorkelling along the Mesoamerican Reef allows visitors to immerse themselves in the area’s rich heritage and diverse ecosystems,” she adds. “Cancun and the Riviera Maya are more than beautiful coastline. They’re a gateway to cultural, historical, and natural experiences that few other places offer.
“Also adventure activities are the perfect option for rainy or not-so-perfect beach days.”
