Luxury travel, by its very definition, offers the elements of safe travel that Canadians are looking for in a post-COVID-19 world – privacy, exclusivity, and seclusion.

Canada’s travel industry is inching towards reopening, but there seem to be more questions than answers. When will travel restrictions be loosened? If Canadians are looking to travel close to home, are there opportunities for operators to package and agents to sell Canada? What new protocols are destinations putting in place to keep travellers safe?
In search for answers, Baxter Media presented #TravelWebcastWeek, a series of free webcasts that ran from June 23 – 25, exploring the future of travel and tourism in a post-COVID-19 world. An impressive roster of experts from around the industry came together to discuss the topics, trends, and issues that matter most to Canadian travel agents and industry professionals right now.
#TravelWebcastWeek kicked-off with Baxter Media’s Executive Editor, Bob Mowat in conversation with Minister Bartlett, followed by a panel discussion with Dana Welch, Tourism Ireland + European Travel Commission, Canada Chapter; Susan Webb, VoX International + Discover America Canada; and Michael Lim, Hong Kong Tourism Board + Asia Now, about where, when, and how international destinations will reopen for tourism. The session wrapped up with a case study presented by Gal Hana, Israel Ministry of Tourism.
On June 24, moderator Larry Mogelonsky spoke with Susie Grynol before launching an illuminating discussion with hotel industry leaders – Rob Housez, Chelsea Hotel, Toronto; Eric Barber, Realstar Hospitality; and Jonathan Lund, InterContinental Hotels Group – about the hotel industry. The session closed with a case study from Small Luxury Hotels.
Day three of #TravelWebcastWeek, featured an interview with Charlotte Bell before heading into a panel all about a new perspective on packaging and selling Canada with Tamara Mallin of Rocky Mountaineer, Darcie Guarderas of Anderson Vacations, and Susan Bowman of Transat Distribution Canada. Harry Patel of Motor Home Travel then presented a case study on how his products can help agents.
