Counting down the world’s most Instagrammed waterfalls from Canada to Zambia
With travel restrictions still in place, the pent up demand for exploring the world is on the rise. While couch surfing, it’s not too early to start dreaming of future trips. Where to start? Get inspired by some iconic waterfalls both near and far.
Interested in tourist hotspots, Showerstoyou.co.uk set out to discover which waterfalls are the most popular on social media. After collating the number of Instagram hashtags per waterfall, they can now reveal all:
#1 Niagara Falls
In first place, Niagara Falls is the world’s most Instagrammed waterfall. Considering many Canadians are looking to stay closer to home this year, visiting this famed romantic destination may be the right fit. Overall it had a total of 3,397,431 hashtags.
#2 Iguazú Falls
In second place is Iguazú Falls. Argentina’s Wonder of the World had its hashtag shared 1,005,532 times on Instagram.
#3 Gullfoss
Gullfoss claims the third most popular waterfall on social media. One of Iceland’s biggest tourist attractions, physically and figuratively, it boasts 329,576 hashtags on Instagram.
#4 Victoria Falls
In fourth is the famous Victoria Falls in Zambia (286,410 hashtags).
#5 Skógafoss
The picturesque Skógafoss in Iceland (255,519 hashtags) round out the top five.
